Dr Phil Burgess
Dr Phil Burgess is Group Managing Director for Public Policy & Communications at Telstra Corporation, where he is responsible
for public policy, regulatory affairs, government relations, media relations, corporate communications and the Telstra
Foundation.Dr Burgess has worn many hats during his career - including educator, writer, businessman, advisor to leaders of business and government, media commentator, adventurer, public service and senior positions in the private sector. Prior to taking up his position at Telstra, Phil served as President of the National Academy of Public Administration in Washington DC and was chief executive of three think tanks focused on leadership and public policy.
Dr Burgess has written extensively on emerging patterns of work in the United States, coining the term 'lone eagles' to describe the growing number of entrepreneurs and freelance professionals who can live and work anyplace, primarily because of advances in telecommunications technologies.
