David Miles


David Miles Chair, Innovation Australia;

David Miles has been a member of the Global Foundation since its inception and its Chairman from January 2000 until May 2006.
David Miles is a graduate in law from the University of Melbourne and is a former President of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Law Council of Australia. He is a practising lawyer, company director and executive coach. From 1991 to 1997, he was Chief Executive and National Managing Partner of national law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth.
In February 2000, David Miles chaired the National Innovation Summit on behalf of the Federal Government and the Business Council of Australia. Following the National Innovation Summit, he chaired the Implementation Group which submitted a report to the Prime Minister in August 2000 entitled "Innovation - Unlocking the Future". In 2003, David Miles was appointed Chair of the National Innovation Council. He was appointed by the Federal Government to chair the Industry Research & Development Board in March 2003.
David Miles is a member of the Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering & Innovation Council (PMSEIC). In 2004 to 2005, David Miles chaired the PMSEIC Working Group on “Growing Technology Based SM’s”. He is Chairman of Uniseed Management Pty Limited, a joint venture to promote early stage research.
He is Chair of Legal Super Pty Ltd, an industry superannuation fund for the Australian legal profession. In 2005, David Miles was a member of an Expert Group which conducted an inquiry into Venture Capital on behalf of the Australian Government. In August 2007, he was appointed chair of Innovation Australia.
